Bobby Magill is the senior science writer at Climate Central covering energy and climate change, and the President of the Society of Environmental Journalists.

His work has appeared in Scientific American, Bloomberg News, the Guardian, Grist, Quartz,, High Country News, USA Today and other publications. His freelance work has appeared in Popular Mechanics, High Country News, and the New Mexico Business Journal. Previously, he was the environment reporter at the Fort Collins Coloradoan and the Grand Junction (Colo.) Daily Sentinel, and a reporter for several small newspapers in western Colorado and New Mexico.

A photographer and former wilderness guide, Bobby served three summers as a ranger and ranger trainer at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and spent a summer guiding in southwest Colorado. 

Born and raised in Charleston, S.C., he is a graduate of the College of Charleston and lives with his husband Jacob in New York City.
